Content
The aim of the microproject is to expand the SWE Lidar scanner into a hemispherically coverable all-sky system. A demonstrator is to serve as proof of concept to demonstrate the mechanical feasibility of an expanded scanning mechanism and the use of a correspondingly shaped optical cover. In addition, it is to be validated that the signal quality remains at least at the previous level or, ideally, can even be improved. This upgrade should enable the SWE Lidar scanner to be used for an even wider range of research applications. This applies in particular to ground-based applications (e.g., site assessments in complex terrain) and enables a clear differentiation from commercially available vertical profilers with limited beam guidance.
