Endowed Chair of Wind Energy

The Endowed Chair of Wind Energy (Stiftungslehrstuhl Windenergie - SWE) at the Institute for Aircraft Design continues the pioneering research and teaching of Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Hütter (1910 - 1989).
Research and teaching at the SWE are multidisciplinary and internationally oriented and open to students from all faculties. Through cooperation within the university, with industry as well as other universities and research institutes the SWE actively promotes the use of wind energy and other renewable energies.
The Endowed Chair of Wind Energy (Stiftungslehrstuhl Windenergie - SWE) is part of the Institute of Aircraft Design at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and Geodesy.
The SWE was founded as the first German endowed research chair in wind energy. The chair was endowed by Dipl.-Ing. Karl Schlecht, founder and chairman of the board of Putzmeister AG, Aichtal in 2004. Since 2010 this wind component was re-organized in the Windreich AG organization with support from the Karl Schlecht Charitable Foundation.
Teaching and research continue at the SWE following the departure of Prof. Dr. Martin Kühn. An active search for a new Professor to head the chair continues under the auspices of the faculty for Aeronautical and Space Engineering (Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik).
