Composite materials infusion test and simulation

Liquid resin infusion of advanced composites is a popular manufacturing method and simulation tools like PAM-RTM are available to help the designer. In a CEC research project INFUCOMP IFB is helping to further develop this code for alternative infusion methods like the VARI process. As a part of this work it is necessary to characterise the infusion properties of several fabrics and to validate the measurements. The research will involve testing of fabric infusion and numerical simulation of a demonstrator component to validate the measurements.

The research  will be undertaken in support of a CEC research project (INFUCOMP) in which IFB is a partner.
